We've all been through those days where we feel shit about our appearance and just want to hide away under baggy clothes and forget that mirrors exist.
My journey began back in 2012 when i was only 15. I became obsessed with my weight because i thought i looked 'fat' bearing in mind, 15 year old me's version of fat was not fat at all. With this came anxiety and a lot of stress over my body image.
I struggled for a few years, i put myself through constant yo yo dieting, i'd lose weight and feel fantastic and start eating normally again and then the pounds would start piling on again. I was back to square one. HERE WE GO AGAIN.
In 2013 i discovered the gym. I say discovered because i didn't really have a first clue what i was doing in the gym. It was a scary place. I remember the first day i walked in and saw all the 'muscly' men staring at themselves in the mirror whilst they gurn and lift weights. I drfited towards the cardio and pretty much stayed there for a solid year.
16 year old Emma, stuck to cardio, i ran, and ran, and ran until i got sick of the sight of a treadmill. I then created an instagram account @em_fitness77. This account was uneducated me trying to make something of myself. This is when i discovered that girls can actuallly lift weights and they don't have to stick to the cardio machines. I followed loads of fitness people on instrgam and i eventually learnt that its okay for girls to lift weights. I started experimenting with weights in the gym and saw some progress.
I forgot about my instagram acount for a year or so through going to university. However, this did not stop my fitness journey. It was only when instagram allowed you to control multiple instragm accounts that i started to pick up my usage of the account again and by that time i had got well on my way with my fitness journey. Not the journey in which i intended the account to be, but a different journey. A journey of strength, fitness and motivation to make myself feel better.
Here i am today. 20 years old, in my third year of university, loving life and loving the gym just as much. I still have a long way to go and need to control my gymshark obsession, but i am determined to create the best version of me. A healthy, happy and fit Emma.

Thank you for reading my story and i'm excited to share my progress with you
